John Ross, printmaker, painter, art educator and author has been a Professor of studio art at Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York for 22 years, and a teacher in a Printmaking Workshop at the New School University in New York City for 50 years. His work is varied in subject matter, from cityscapes, figurative images, western landscapes, portraits, visions of architectural fantasies to the metamorphosis of people into structures or buildings.

In each the basic compositions emphasize the construction of the subject, whether it be a canyon , a skyscraper , a landscape or a figure, using textures, abstract forms, patterns, and color to develop the finished picture.

In recent years, Ross has been creating artists books in limited editions, chosen, designed, illustrated and printed personally in his own print shop or in affiliated workshops, mainly at Tipoteca Italiana in the Veneto in Italy. The bindings are produced from sketches and dummies by Ross and are executed by expert binders.
